Introduction
The purpose of these videos is to give a brief overview of Radio and specifically Amateur Radio in the UK to encourage people to get involved. I will limit the depth of technical explanations as there are plenty to deep-dive videos if you want to learn more. This is more to show you what is possible, listening only, without a licence, even without a radio and then what is possible with a UK Amateur Radio licence from OFCOM. Really, the sky is the limit. Well outer space is the actual limit, even with a walkie-talkie!
Why get into radio? Isn’t it all deprecated due to the internet?
Not at all; sure some things like long wave and AM broadcast stations are dying, but in many parts of the world and in times of natural disasters like earthquakes, flood, wars and other emergencies it is invaluable and the only way to communicate, hence preppers (people who stay in a state of readiness with food, charged radios, bunkers etc.).

Amateur Radio has a system called RayNet which has proved invaluable in assisting communications many times in cooperation with emergency services.
